It is to nourish the spirit of man by giving him the cosmos to suckle. We have only to lower our standard of dominating nature, and to raise our standard of participating in it in order to make this reconciliation take place.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" style=\"margin-left: 1.17in; margin-right: 1.35in; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><strong><em>from \u201cThe Silent World Is Our Homeland.\u201d Francis Ponge<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" style=\"margin-right: 0.5in; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Science provides substance for our intellect, the arts for our heart. In ancient Greece, a balance of mind, body and spirit was regarded as the ideal : mathematics for the mind, gymnastics for the body, music for the spirit.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" style=\"margin-right: 0.5in; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" style=\"margin-left: 1.14in; margin-right: 1.33in; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em>Still, in a way, nobody sees a flower\u2014really\u2014it is so small\u2014we haven\u2019t time\u2014and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-US\" style=\"margin-left: 1.14in; margin-right: 1.33in; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><em><strong>Georgia O\u2019Keefe<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">My work aims to capture the viewer\u2019s eye without fanfare or flourish, and then to engage with one&#8217;s inner secrets. A little whisper of a message hiding on the surface, perhaps at first unnoticed. A little forgotten sensation floating up into one\u2019s consciousness. The soft murmuring messages in my images may be quite subtle. In the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><em>myth of face<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> series it is through the individual faces who gradually merge into one universal face. In the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><em>i dialoghi italiani<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"> series, the message is voiced through intimate perspectives that coalesce into a richer panorama. I<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">n the <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><em>in the image of the gods<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> series, it is through the ordinary bodies, each revealing their own beauty, each created in their own likeness, each rising towards their own perfection. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I search for the universal in art. It could be seen as anachronistic to create work that doesn\u2019t shout, that speaks without words, convoluted concepts, or impenetrable idiosyncrasies. Instead, I trust my inner eye to guide the imagery, to allow the development of multiple strata of subliminal motifs without interference from the intellect.
