Science Friday, that is, the weekly science news program on public radio. I listen to the podcast every week. There’s always something new to learn. Last week’s second hour dove into learning music and audio science. A few items popped out at me :
Nuisance variables
Young people’s hearing
Shortcomings of digital
Ya know what? There aren’t any surprises. Of course, irrelevant variables distract and influence our judgment. Of course, people under 30 can appreciate better quality audio when given the chance to hear what they’re missing. Of course, digital’s shortcomings are due to corner cutting and misuse of the technology, not any inherent inferiority.
